My
family and I visited the Caribbean Islands of St. Lucia, St. Thomas,
and the Bahamas approximately two years ago. We traveled by sea on
the Caribbean Princess cruise-ship operated by the Princess Cruises.
We started from the Florida’s port of Fort Lauderdale in the
U.S. and headed in the direction to the St. Thomas. It is a wonderful
resort for each family in the world.
The Caribbean Princess was truly a remarkable place to be for the family.
This ship was big and beautiful, but tiny compare to the grand ocean that
surrounded it from all the sides. When the ship was sailing during the
day, my family and I spent time by the pool, which was located in the center
of the ship. It’s a real resort, I should say. In addition, we went
to the spa and massage therapies, which turned out to be very relaxing.
During the night, we took dancing lessons and short walks on the floor
of the ship and dined at very fine restaurants. We went shopping on the
ship as well, because some very interesting souvenirs, accessories, and
jewelry were sold in ship’s boutiques.
One night was a prom night and I had to wear a beautiful long prom dress
for dinner. I imagined that I was the Caribbean princess who sailed ships
to many unknown and magical countries. After dinner, my family and I went
to take pictures of ourselves in the ship’s marvelous picture gallery.
One taken picture included me pouring the champagne over the multi-storied
hill of champagne glasses in the ballroom.
After two days at sea, we arrived in the morning to St. Lucia. It felt
very strange to walk on earth again, but I was glad to the change of scenery.
St. Lucia’s Pitons – two volcanic rocks sticking from the sea – looked
spectacular on the background of the island. At St. Lucia we dined in the
restaurant famous for its fabulous sea food and Caribbean music. In the
evening my family and I went to the north of the island to see the resorts and beaches near the Rodney Bay.
The next day we sailed to the island of St. Thomas, a U.S. territory, filled
with small and big ships at the port. St. Thomas impressed me with its
beautiful beaches, full of scuba divers, snorkeling enthusiasts, and water-skies
specialists.
The lasting impressing was left by the Princess Cays, the Bahamas. There
we rented a big wooden boat with the captain and went sailing into the
open sea. The temperature was hot like in the open oven, but the sea breeze
made hot weather unnoticeable and pleasant. Snorkeling underwater near
the ship was scary, although I took many pictures of different kinds of
fish, sponges, jellyfish, crabs, sea stars, and snails. Coral reefs appeared
vivid red and orange, like trees in the autumn, with all kinds of unknown
to me seagrass and stones.
